The PAN Number is often a 10 Alphanumeric number for uniquely identifier of Indian tax payers, issued to any or all juristic entities identifiable beneath the Indian Income Tax Act 1961.

IT PAN card is distributed under Section 139A with the Income Tax Act.
The PAN structure can be as follows: AAAPL1234C: First five characters are letters, next four numerals, last character letter.
The first three letters are sequence of alphabets from AAA to ZZZ
The fourth character informs concerning the type of holder on the card. Each holder is uniquely thought as below:
A — Association of Persons (AOP)
B — Body of Individuals (BOI)
C — Company
F — Firm
G — Government
H — HUF (Hindu Undivided Family)
L — Local Authority
J — Artificial Judicial Person
P — Individual
T — AOP (Trust)
The fifth character on the PAN may be the first character
(a) with the surname or last name on the person, regarding a “Personal” PAN card, in which the fourth character is “P” or
(b) from the name in the Entity, Trust, society, or organisation regarding Company/ HUF/ Firm/ AOP/ BOI/ Local Authority/ Artificial Jurdical Person/ Govt, the location where the fourth character is “C”,”H”,”F”,”A”,”T”,”B”,”L”,”J”,”G”.
The last character is definitely an alphabetic check digit.
Nowadays, the DOI (date of issue) in the PAN card is mentioned with the right (vertical) hand side on the photo about the PAN card.
